In summer 2025, the Black Midwest Initiative hosted our second Summer Institute. This convening brought together a new cohort of BMI Fellows who are all doing work around environmental justice issues affecting Black people and communities within the Midwest and Rust Belt regions of the United States.
Ranging from written essays to photographs, zines, short films and lesson plans, each of our Fellows have created original environmental justice projects for the HUB.
